Ukrainian Sounds
is a personal cultural initiative through which I have made it my mission to highlight the rich yet often overlooked musical tradition of Ukraine and make it accessible to a wider audience.
About Us
Ukrainian Sounds is an ensemble of professional musicians from Ukraine, united by a shared love for their homeland’s music.
The members met while studying at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden, where the idea was born to create an ensemble dedicated to bringing Ukrainian chamber music to the European stage.
At the heart of the ensemble’s work lies the project “Musical Treasures of Ukraine” – a concert series that unveils the rich and still rarely heard world of Ukrainian chamber music. The musicians aim to introduce European audiences to a new sound of Ukraine – a culture whose voice deserves to be heard more widely.
The repertoire of Ukrainian Sounds spans from classical to contemporary music, from the elegance of the 18th century to the expressive works of modern composers.
Their programs feature music by Vasyl Barvinsky, Myroslav Skoryk, Valentin Silvestrov, Borys Lyatoshynsky, Maksym Berezovsky, Zoltan Almashi, Mykola Lysenko, and many other distinguished Ukrainian composers.
The ensemble is known for its remarkable flexibility – performing in various formations, from solo recitals to piano sextets, always creating vivid and inspiring musical experiences.
Ukrainian Sounds performs regularly at the Chinese Pavilion in Dresden, one of the city’s most beloved concert venues. The ensemble is invited back every year, as its concerts are consistently sold out, and audiences warmly embrace Ukrainian music – a sign that it has found a new artistic home here.
Beyond their artistic work, the musicians are deeply committed to social and humanitarian causes. They have organized three benefit concerts in Dresden, investing significant personal time, effort, and resources. The proceeds support people from Ukraine and the Save Ukraine fund, which helps reunite abducted Ukrainian children with their families.
Through their work, Ukrainian Sounds brings together musical excellence, cultural openness, and compassion, guided by the belief that music builds bridges between people, nations, and hearts.
